The Editor's Letter: Fall/Winter 2011 at Style Republic...
There are only two words that could accurately describe the last three and a half months at Style Republic Magazine: Fashion, overload. With a plethora of fresh collections hitting the runways, and a healthy supply of labels rolling out their latest and greatest, I found myself making a number of necessary treks this season; beginning with Montreal, to Las Vegas, to New York City. In each of these cities, I got the pleasure of shamelessly asking the majority of team Style Republic to drop their current projects, and embark on the adventure with me.

One of the best working experiences I’ve had to date took place in Las Vegas. Yes, you heard correctly; work sent Style Republic to Las Vegas. This season, I was a part of WWDMAGIC’s blogger initiative (strategically put together by Macala Wright of Fashionably Marketing). Not only did the project introduce our team to a variety of other digital fashionistas, but to the creative masterminds behind many of the world’s largest labels (Note: No one throws a party in Las Vegas like Hudson Jeans).
Less than two weeks later, we made our way out to New York City for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The Spring 2012 presentations this season were phenomenal, as was this year’s Fashion’s Night Out spectacle. As per usual, VOGUE, The City of New York, and the CFDA spared no expense when it came to topping last year’s celebration. Not only did the cast of Glee star in this year’s PSA, but the entire city had the chance to chat with designer Tory Burch, color T-shirts with stylist Patricia Field, and dance in the streets with Zac Posen (I’ve never seen so many people dance so emphatically to “Billie Jean” at the same time).
Seeing the collections is always a welcome highlight while in New York City (I won’t lie to you; I nearly shed a tear when I took my seat at Donna Karan). The game changers this season included the usual suspects (Oscar de la Renta, DKNY, Nicole Miller), while we were pleasantly surprised by the likes of Rachel Zoe (new to the design world), and the show put on by Libertine. Celebrities were in no short supply either; the cast of HBO’s True Blood made appearances at a number of shows, while Coco Rocha, Justin Bieber and Miss. Piggy (not kidding) kicked off anticipated events across town.
All of the above mentioned is available for you to read about on our website (everything in this letter is linked to its appropriate page)! As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts on our content. The easiest way to find me is, as many of you know, on Twitter. On that note, grab a coffee, start reading, and I’ll see you there!
